EVA
Meaning
An EVA, or extravehicular activity, is any operation performed by an astronaut or cosmonaut outside the confines of a spacecraft in space or on the surface of a celestial body.
Examples
- During the spacewalk, the astronaut successfully completed the complex EVA to repair the damaged solar panel on the International Space Station.
- Future missions to Mars will require extensive EVAs for geological surveys and the construction of surface habitats.
